Global Remote Ultrasound Training Center Launched in Luohu

On March 15, the International Remote Ultrasound Diagnosis and Global Remote Ultrasound Training Center was launched in Luohu, Shenzhen, through a partnership between Luohu Hospital Group and MGI Tech. The initiative aims to expand global access to high-quality ultrasound diagnostics and training, leveraging AI and remote technology to bridge healthcare gaps.
During the launch, Chinese medical experts provided real-time ultrasound diagnostics for patients in Indonesia using remote-controlled robotic systems. Luohu Hospital Group, home to over 120 ultrasound specialists and 95 advanced devices, performs more than 2,000 daily scans and continues to attract top experts in the field.
The new center will enable in-depth research on ultrasound imaging data, supporting early disease detection and precision treatment. Experts also proposed a Global Remote Ultrasound Alliance to promote international collaboration in AI-assisted diagnostics and genetic technology.
Demonstrating the system's capabilities, Luohu Hospital's Executive Director Xiong Yi remotely operated MGI Tech's MGIUS-R3 ultrasound robot, conducting scans for patients in Indonesia and Sichuan's Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. He emphasized that advancements in 5G and AI are key to overcoming disparities in ultrasound access and called for more experts to join the initiative to benefit patients worldwide.
