Luohu District hosts 10th arts education practice event


The 10th Project-Based Arts Practice Event in Luohu District, Shenzhen, took place on March 9 at Honggui Primary School, featuring 26 projects from 24 schools. Nearly a thousand students, teachers, and parents participated, showcasing creativity and aesthetic appreciation.
The event transformed traditional classrooms into “mini art galleries” and “project-based learning labs,” where schools presented interdisciplinary projects blending heritage, technology, and traditional culture. Highlights included AI-powered art displays, theatrical performances, and hands-on exhibits that combined traditional craftsmanship with modern innovations.
Students engaged in independent inquiry, exploring topics such as the relevance of woodcut prints in the AI era. Various schools used drama and multimedia to bring history and culture to life—recreating Dunhuang’s Flying Apsaras through pyrography, narrating the history of Lugou Bridge, and showcasing Chinese etiquette through stage performances. One team demonstrated the integration of AI in their "Colors of Rain" project, highlighting the fusion of art and technology.
Arts education specialist Yin Shaochun emphasized how theatrical presentations break traditional boundaries and encourage dynamic interaction between art, audience, and space. Educators also underscored the importance of nurturing aesthetic sensibility through project-based activities.
Parents were impressed by students' creativity and expressed support for expanding such initiatives to help children develop artistic appreciation and innovation in the AI era. Luohu’s education bureau announced plans to deepen the integration of AI into classrooms over the next three years, ensuring that arts education remains a vital part of students' growth.
