Chunfeng Tunnel in Luohu set to open
As the Year of the Dragon begins, significant transportation projects in Luohu are making notable progress, with a spotlight on the Chunfeng (spring breeze) Tunnel, which is on track to be finished and open for traffic by the year's end.
On Feb. 20th, at the Chunfeng Tunnel construction site, hundreds of workers were already on-site, energetically commencing their work for the new year. A technical expert on the project stated, "Currently, the shield-tunneling machine achieves a daily excavation speed of five meters, with only 193 meters remaining for the entire excavation project, anticipated to reach a breakthrough next month."
The Chunfeng Tunnel marks Shenzhen's pioneer municipal road tunnel constructed using the shield tunneling method. Its technical intricacies arise from being the city's first single-bore double-deck motor vehicle tunnel, showcasing notable complexity and innovation. The tunnel's average depth is below 20 meters, with the deepest point reaching 49 meters. Spanning a total length of 5.08 kilometers, the Chunfeng Tunnel comprises upper and lower deck lanes designed for a speed limit of 60 km/h, playing a vital role in Shenzhen's south ring transportation system.
