Chaozhou-Luohu cooperation taps into economic complementarity
The governments of Chaozhou city and Shenzhen's Luohu district signed a cooperation agreement on their joint development of an “innovation island” project at Luohu’s International Business Center on May 13.
Chaozhou mayor Liu Sheng and his Luohu counterpart, Fan Defan, along with officials from relevant departments of the two governments, participated in a ceremony held in Luohu that day.
The project covers an area of about 1,330 square meters and will focus on promoting cooperation between the two sides in technology research and development, attracting talents, transformation of technology achievements, startup incubation, and coordination of industrial development.
The cooperation is the first of its kind between a district and a city in Guangdong province, with the objective of bringing about win-win results for both sides. Chaozhou will encourage its enterprises to take part in the project so as to upgrade its industry structure and technology. Meanwhile, Luohu hopes to promote high-quality development in the region via the project by tapping into its strengths in headquarters economy and technology and Chaozhou’s strong industry base.
